The annual international Sevens... a 2 day rugby tournament was just held here in Wellington. Seven players per side rather than 15. A sell-out, 35,000-strong crowd, the Sevens weekend is a multimillion- dollar bonanza for Wellington's bars, restaurants and hotels. With prizes for best costumes, everyone goes all out. They close the street and it turns into a big celebration after the games. The fans walk from the stadium to Courtney Pl. for the music and celebration. We perched on a balcony looking over the crowds... Reminders of Mardi Gras / Super Bowl, fun!
This man had his booth set up at the train station and was face painting temporary tattoos. He is Maori with a full face moko.
