Today we went to the Griffith Park Observatory, to Black Cow restaurant for dinner on Montrose Blvd. It was very, very good!!!! Then went to "The taste of Downtown Burbank"- you buy a wristband and sample local restaurant food, (all you can eat) music and drink! Fun! Lots of people, was dark early so no photos, darn... great people watching.

We're going to Santa Anita race track... opening day today! then to the Santa Anita fashion park mall for some browsing/shopping. Then on to Dodger Stadium... LA Dodgers are playing Colorado. Saraha's for dinner... Lebanese food, yumm!!

Tues. Sept. 25th 2007

Drove to the top of Mt Wilson and viewed the entire area. Toured the museum and the Hubble Observatory, 100 ft telescope. Went to downtown Pasadena and shopped Colorado St, drove around the Rose Bowl, Montrose St. and had a good time!

Santa Barbara...

Sat. Sept. 22nd 2007 We went all around Santa Barbara today. Authentic mexican food, State street shops and art museum, wine shop, heaps of photography opportunities. Saw the new film "In the Valley of Elah".

Morro Bay...

Today we travelled from Templeton to Morro Bay. Saw heaps of surfers at the Rock. Sea otters in the bay. More mexican food at a fushion cafe. calamari tacos and blackened king salmon tacos. Then to the Farmers market in San Luis Obispo for the evening party and walk about.

Thursday, in Paso Robles... stayed at a Walnut farm 2 nights... drove to Morro Bay and San Luis Obispo California.

Thursday Sept. 20th- wineries visited today were Turley, L'adventure, Pipestone, Windward and Peachy Canyon.

Wed. Sept. 19th, visited Linne Caldo, Four Vines, Summerwood, Vinoteca wine bar in Paso Robles and met the winemaker from Peachy Canyon, Josh. They had great Zinfandel.

The landscape down here is beautiful! Lots of big oaks, walnut, almond, avocado groves, olive trees everywhere.

Central Coast of California

Tues. Sept. 18th... Drove from SF to factory outlet stores in Gilroy,
bought some shoes, had lunch at an all you could eat salad bar at
Market Fresh Cafe- very good and inexpensive! Then drove to wineries
in Paso Robles- Martin Weyrich, Adalida, (our favorites:)Tablas Creek,
Justin. Arrived at Shelly & Jeff's in Templeton, CA walnut farm.

Weekend in Napa Valley

Friday, Sept. 14th 2007. Staying in St. Helena at Clarks. Started out going to Maryville Winery. We picked up Clark at his work then drove to Vinecliff Winery, met the owner of the winery Rob, son of the owners and then met the winemaker-Rex from Palmerston North NZ and cellar hand- Lucy, here just two monthes, from Christchurch NZ. He has been here for 26 harvests. We drove to St Helena for lunch, met Clarks father, Lee and had a picnic in the park. Clark went back to work and we took Lee home then drove to more wine tastings- Darhoush, Signorello, Clos du val, Domaine Chandon then to Mondavi for an art reception, met up with Rich, friend friend of Trac & Robyns. We said hello to Margareet Mondavi just before she scurried away to dinner with Bob.

Saturday, Sept. 15th 2007. We started at Simi in Healdsberg, Dry Creek- Ferri-Carano, Preston, Lambert Ridge, Hopkiln, Rocholi, Porter Creek, Chateau St Jean, Kunde, St. Francis and Mayo.

Travels...

Chardonnay from Foris Winery

Day two and three

Traveled to Abacela Winery, Bridgeview then Foris Winery. Stayed at Maple Ranch, Foris Winery. Today, Sept. 12th drove from Cave Junction, throught the Redwoods to Ft. Bragg.

Pre-travels to New Zealand

Left Portland Monday Sept. 10th. Drove to Eugene OR and made visits to wineries- Hinnman, Sweet Cheeks, King Estates then went to visit with friends in Eugene.
